Welcome to our new Print Finishing Center!
You’ve always wanted to experience live how printed signature sheets and rolls are transformed into finished softcover, transactional print, direct mail, and transpromo products, or book blocks for hardcover production? Then I invite you to visit our new Print Finishing Center (PFC) in Zofingen!
Following the fusion of the two companies Müller Martini and Hunkeler, we completely redesigned our training and demo center. We can now present our entire machine portfolio and showcase our extensive inline expertise in a compact space. The following seven Hunkeler systems can now be viewed at the PFC:
- Starbook Plowfolder GEN8.For the production of softcover products and book blocks for hardcover production, it leads into the Antaro Digital perfect binder and the InfiniTrim trimming robot.
- Roll to stack solution GEN8 EVO. We presented this system for the first time at Hunkeler Innovationdays 2025 and the Printing United Expo last October in Orlando, its premiere in North America.
- Starbook Sheetfolder GEN8. We presented this inline solution to the public for the first time ever at drupa 2024, and one year later again at the Hunkeler Innovationdays.
- PF7 book solution.
- Light Weight Paper GEN8 EVO, which leads to the GUK folder.
Combined cutting/perforating solution with Web Inspection WI8 for the production of transactional applications with Dynamic Processor DP8. - DocuTrim (signature processing solution).
A true powerhouse
By redesigning the PFC, Müller Martini and Hunkeler can not only showcase their entire portfolio on just one story, but can also highlight their extensive inline solution expertise – from printed signatures and rolls to finished softcover, saddle-stitched brochures, transactional print, direct mail, and transpromo products, as well as book blocks for hardcover production – in a compact space.
During the four-month conversion period, which went according to schedule thanks to optimal collaboration between project managers, service technicians, freight, logistics, and the factory maintenance team, responsible for compressed air, network, and power connections, numerous customers already came to visit. They were quite impressed that they were able to not only see individual machines, but also experience the production processes between Hunkeler and Müller Martini.
Besides the Antaro Digital mentioned above and the InfiniTrim, we also present the following Müller Martini solutions: perfect binders Vareo PRO and Alegro (with three-knife trimmer Solit PRO and stacker CB 18), as well as the saddle stitchers Primera PRO and Prinova Digital, each with a Perfetto PRO compensating stacker. “The new PFC is a true powerhouse and perfectly showcases the benefits of the fusion of the two companies,” one visitor said – a compliment that fills me with pride.
Three times as many demos and trainings than in the previous year
With the new PFC, we can offer our customers yet another attraction on the customer journey. Besides the presentation of the company, our machine portfolio, the workflow, and the different service modules, as well as a tour of the factory, the PFC is a key item on the agenda of any customer visit.
Our latest flagship is welcomed not only by our customers, but also by our printing and finishing partners. The machines at the PFC are also accessible to technicians from our market organizations, customer machine operators, and internal staff for training. The fact that we recorded almost three times as many demonstrations for customers and trainings in the first four months of this year than in the same period in 2025 is a clear indicator to me that our new PFC is turning heads.
Coming full circle
I have a competent team of instructors for professional demos and trainings at my side – consisting of Thomas Bachmann, Guido Baumann, Mike Braun, Andreas Werner, Kevin Mähr, and Roger Stocker. The latter two joined our team from Hunkeler, so the Hunkeler side is now also expertly covered at the PFC, in addition to the former Felben side. The technicians are supported by Monica Winistörfer and Aimee Dossenbach in the back office, who shifted from Hunkeler to the PFC.
With Roger Stocker, everything comes full circle for me. After all, I did my professional training at the same time as him from 1995 to 1999 (him at Hunkeler, me at Müller Martini), and we met at vocational school. In 2008, we ran across each other again at drupa in Düsseldorf, because the Müller Martini and Hunkeler booths were next to one another. From 2013 to 2018 I was also employed as the Head of Customer Services at Hunkeler in Wikon, before I returned to Müller Martini as an instructor and then assumed management of the PFC two years later.
The graphic design industry is a small world. But what connects us all is our enthusiasm for printed books, magazines, and brochures. We’d love to pass this spirit on to you during your next visit to the PFC – I look forward to seeing you there!
Yours,
Christoph Müller
