Livonia Invests in a Fourth Connect System – with Two New Ventura MC 200 Machines

Livonia in the Latvian capital of Riga already operates three Connect integrated thread sewing systems, each with two Ventura MC machines. At drupa, company owner and Managing Director Trond Erik Isaksen signed a purchase contract for a fourth system, which as a world premiere consists of two brand-new Ventura MC 200 machines.

One of the two thread sewing machines, which will be commissioned in Riga as soon as the end of June, is currently wowing visitors at the drupa booth. Trond Erik Isaksen is particularly impressed by its new Motion Control Technology, which results in considerably shorter make-ready times. “It’s a really dynamic machine” is his succinct comment about the new Ventura model. He is also a big fan of the integrated system. “It makes thread sewing production considerably more cost-effective.”

That is of particular importance to Livonia, which employs 570 people, since 75 percent of its products are thread-sewn – from schoolbooks to works of art. Between 200 and 250,000 copies are printed and thread-sewn per title. Thanks to tapping into new customer segments in Germany in particular, Livonia has increased orders coming in, which is one of the main reasons why Trond Erik Isaksen wants to expand the company’s thread sewing capacity.

Since Livonia was established in 2007, it has been a close partner of Muller Martini. The innovative company also relies on three Muller Martini Diamant MC60 booklines (one of which is an integrated system with a Colibri backgluing line) and three Muller Martini perfect binders (two Alegro machines and an Acoro).
