Amazingly simple operating principle
Prepress data is processed continually on the digital press. The web is printed on both sides, sheeted in-line, folded, and finished on an integrated perfect binder or saddle stitcher.
The job data from prepress is used for fully automatic makeready of the entire line.
At the beginning of the production process the integrated digital printing press prints each product in sequence in one step – from the first to last page. Printing systems from various partners and, correspondingly, various print technologies can be made use of.
In the SigmaLine, the digital printing press fits seamlessly into the production process, as do all other components originating from Muller Martini. This makes the digital printing press a part of the continuous JDF workflow.
SigmaFolder II: High-Quality Digital Print Finishing
Muller Martini's variable SigmaFolder II signature folder is the flexible link between digital printing and print finishing.
For folding, proven high performance technology taken from offset printing is put to use in the Sigma- Folder II. Thanks to its modular design, it is possible to choose from a range of elements such as split and merge, various former folds, cross cutting, cross fold and chop fold modules. All folded edges are perforated.
The signatures are gathered into book blocks in the SigmaCollator gathering machine. In order to be able to drive the printer and the signature folder at a continuous speed, the SigmaCollator must process the paper without interruption. The perpetual signature flow is handled through the fact that the sheets are stacked alternately in two gathering trays into book blocks. The fully automated SigmaCollator changes the format and thickness cycle-precisely during production.
